Sotogrande was established in 1962 by Joseph McMicking and American property developer with the vision of turning the area into one of Europe’s leading luxury resort destinations. Alcaidesa is located at the far west of the Costa del Sol and is easily accessible from all locations along the coast via the AP7 toll motorway or the original coast road A7 (N340).

Originally constructed in the 1990s, the golf course has undergone further development and is now the most renowned Links course in Southern Spain, benefitting from stunning views across the Mediterranean to North Africa and directly over the Rock of Gibraltar.

The Alcaidesa golf resort has hosted two Andalucian PGA tournaments and Ryder cup junior matches. Perched in a privileged location, just 15 minutes from Gibraltar airport and set in an area of low density construction and natural beauty.
